Tips for Managing Blood Sugar During Exercise

Check your blood glucose before, during (for long sessions), and after exercise. Carry fast-acting carbohydrates (e.g., glucose tablets, fruit juice) in case of hypoglycemia. Stay hydrated. If glucose is above 250 mg/dL and you have Type 1 diabetes, check for ketones before exercising.

Note: These are general guidelines. People with diabetes should develop a personalized exercise plan with their healthcare team.
