๐ Mean Arterial Blood Pressure Calculator
Calculate your Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) โ an important indicator of adequate blood flow and organ perfusion.
What is Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP)?
Mean Arterial Pressure is the average blood pressure in the arteries during a single cardiac cycle. It is a more reliable indicator of organ perfusion than systolic blood pressure alone because it reflects the pressure that drives blood to the organs throughout the entire heartbeat cycle.
MAP Formula
MAP = Diastolic BP + (1/3 ร Pulse Pressure)
Pulse Pressure = Systolic BP โ Diastolic BP
Equivalently: MAP = (Systolic + 2 ร Diastolic) รท 3
Pulse Pressure = Systolic BP โ Diastolic BP
Equivalently: MAP = (Systolic + 2 ร Diastolic) รท 3
MAP Reference Values
| MAP Range (mmHg) | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| < 60 | Critically low โ inadequate organ perfusion |
| 70โ100 | Normal โ adequate perfusion pressure |
| 101โ110 | Mildly elevated |
| > 110 | High โ associated with organ damage risk |
Note: A MAP of at least 60 mmHg is generally required to ensure adequate perfusion to the brain, heart, and kidneys. This calculator is for educational use. Always consult a medical professional for interpretation.
